The bear is awake!

When our son was walking about on our land he noticed a clear sign of spring - bear footprints! At least one bear is awake now, good news! It will be so exciting to follow the wildlife from our hides and to see the nature slowly wake up again after the long cold winter.

Backe and the Wilderness road

For those of you who has a longer journey to get here may want some advice on other things to do and see while you are up here. In Backe there are 60km hiking paths to enjoy, you can visit local nature reserves and historical remain, watch rock paintings, try out stoneage bowling at the Heritage place, gym outside by the lake or why not join in for a bat safari in the night? Visit Backes own website for more information. Every year, the first weekend of July it is the Fjällsjö fair (Fjällsjömarknan) with music shows and Swedish Championships in Snow mobile driving on water! From Backe you could drive the 50km tour of "The Wilderness Road" - up to the Lapland mountains and back, with loads of nice things to see (except reindeers). Would you like to kiss a moose or see Scandinavia's longest canyon and the mighty Hällingsåfallets Waterfall? Read more about The Wilderness Road here. Happy Holiday!
